This portrayal of her in a pop surrealist manner captures her mesmerizing glance that has intrigued so many admires in the world, as well as her sharp facial feature that are still a reference in the cosmetic subregions book. She is almost surprised to see the viewer, this surprise effect can be related to the fact that she is leaned in front of a blue wall to frame her royal pose. This shows a contrast between her great power and the vulnerability in her expression.<br>
<br>
Nefertiti known as The beautiful one has come forth was the 14th-century BC Royal Wife of the Pharaoh Akhenaten. He initiated a new monotheistic form of worship called Atenism dedicated to the Sun disc Aten. Little is known about Nefertiti.<br>
<br>
She could have been an Egyptian royal by birth or a foreign princess. who became pharaoh after Tutankhamun. She may have been the co-regent of Egypt with Akhenaten. Nefertiti bore six daughters to Akhenaten. While it was once thought that Nefertiti disappeared in the twelfth year of Akhenaten's reign because of her death or because she took a new name, she was still alive in the sixteenth year of her husband's reign. </div><div><br></div><div>CBAMR - Comic Book and Movie Reviews</div><div>ART / WORK / LIFE - TIAGO AZEVEDO by David Andrews</div><div>I was recently introduced to a brilliant Portuguese artist who specializes in painting portraits rather than objects, ranging from well-known historical figures all the way to mystical characters featured in pop culture. His name is Tiago Azevedo, he lives in Germany, and he was good enough to tell me about his life and career. Here, check this out...</div><div><br></div><div>1) Please tell us a little bit about yourself, Tiago. I'm an artist who's decided to follow his dreams by dedicating my full attention to creating a life where my career is also my passion. I live my dreams every day and make a point of sharing that possibility with everyone that wants to live a life that's filled with joy and happiness.</div><div><br></div><div>2) What inspired you to become an artist? Art has always been a part of me because it's the easiest way for me to express myself. This started with the desire to materialize the beauty I see in the world around me by transforming it into something tangible! That is what I do, I translate to the canvas my vision of what beauty really means to me.</div><div><br></div><div>3) What song would you say best represents your illustrative style and why? That song would have to be “Un-Break My Heart” by Toni Braxton. Not for the sadness in the song. But rather, for the emotion in the song. The same strong emotion I feel when I produce my work, which hopefully, is the same emotion people will feel when they see it. It has become my mission in life -- to spread positivity across the world.</div><div><br></div><div>4) If you could get a celebrity – either living or dead – to promote your wares, who would you choose, and why would you want to choose this particular person? That celebrity would definitely be Cher, because in my opinion, she's the epitome of beauty and strength, and subconsciously, I tend to use her as a reference for my paintings. Curiously enough, a lot of people recognize her in my work, even though it's not intentional.</div><div><br></div><div>5) If you had a personal motto, what would it be? 'Follow your dreams'! It may sound simple and generic, but you would be surprised at the number of people who do not have a clear and defined dream or goal. I feel that in this case, you should ask yourself every day what that dream might be and try as many new experiences as you can in order to start having a clearer idea. I believe that it's only when you have a purpose in life that you can live a complete and fulfilled life, and your dreams and desires are indicators of that purpose. 🧜 <a href="https://www.tiagoazevedo.com/">www.tiagoazevedo.com</a> 🧚</div>tgoazevedohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03086032944965035335noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4852610955700725860.post-48437212319712759992020-06-10T09:45:00.001-07:002020-06-10T09:45:07.885-07:00FAIRY TALE BOOK ARTICLE 🧚<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Painter and architect, Tiago Azevedo already has a solid international career. Now the Azorean launches ‘The Tales of the Brothers Grimm’ and exhibits oil painting works in Portugal.<br>
<br>
'The Tales of the Brothers Grimm' is the title of the first book by the painter and architect Tiago Azevedo.<br>
<br>
With an extensive international career that led him to exhibit his oil paintings in Paris, New York, Rome, Cannes and Dubai, the 35-year-old Azorean also has a journey as an author, with the edition of this book.<br>
<br>
Although he has not lived in the Azores for several decades, where he was born, the mystique of the fog and landscapes of the archipelago remains one of his great sources of inspiration and creativity. This element, together with the German folklore that he came to discover over the years, with its traditions, superstitions and legends, that led Tiago to paint a series of oil paintings, which he has decided to publish, together with a translation of the original version of tales.<br>
<br>
“This book arose from the desire to compile my oil paintings in a format that could convey the literary component of my work, in this case the stories by the Brothers Grimm. I have always been passionate about fables, the imaginary and the fantasy inherent in these stories. In this book I condense all the magic of stories through my paintings, portraying their characters the way I always imagined them. Being close to Christmas, my favorite time of year, it becomes even more special. I feel the book as a gift that I share with people ”, explained Tiago Azevedo.<br>
<br>
The launch of ‘The Tales of the Brothers Grimm’ took place on November, at the Foz Palace, where some of their original works were also be exhibited. It is on sale in several bookstores and outlets such as Fnac, Bertrand, Wook, Almedina, Bulhosa and El Corte Inglés. The ebook can be found on Amazon, Apple iBookstore, Barnes & Noble, Sony, Kobo, Diesel ebook Store and Baker & Taylor.<br>
<br>
On his YouTube channel, Tiago Azevedo frequently publishes videos with his painting techniques, as well as biographies of the great masters of art, from Frida Kahlo to Salvador Dali and Albrecht Dürer, in a series of episodes dedicated to art history. 🧜 <a href="https://www.tiagoazevedo.com/">www.tiagoazevedo.com</a> 🧚<!--/data/user/0/com.samsung.android.app.notes/files/clipdata/clipdata_200610_165149_596.sdoc--><br></div>tgoazevedohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03086032944965035335noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4852610955700725860.post-964800199830717392020-06-09T10:04:00.001-07:002020-06-09T10:04:41.091-07:00Print of Lonely Mermaid Undersea by Tiago Azevedo<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Mermaids traditionally were sirens who lured sailors to their death through their captivating song. They were also tragic figures as mermaids could not survive in the human world which they yearned for and men could not exist in their watery realm, so any relationship was doomed. </div><div><br></div><div>This pop surrealist Mermaid painting no sailors are depicted so that despite being a 'siren' the mermaid is shown as an alluring rather lonely figure with fish traits such as the ears and gills instead of a fishtail that may or may not exist. The atmosphere evoked is one of gentle melancholy as the mermaid sits alone in an isolated inlet, dreamily showing out her long hair with her lips parted in song. Beside her are two red fishes that indicate she has control over marine animals as she does with sailors where it is believed that she turns their tears into precious pearls.</div><div><br></div><div>her wistful-sad look and the review remarked that it tells of the human longings never to be satisfied. Echo Boomer (EB) - Who is Tiago Azevedo?<br>
<br>
Tiago Azevedo (TA) - I would like Tiago Azevedo to be remembered as a person who decided to follow his passion. I started studying architecture when I decided to pursue a profession. Of course, this was what society perceived as a career. A better career. However, it was not quite what I wanted since I always had a passion for the arts.<br>
<br>
I was an architect for eight years. Then it got to a certain point where I moved to another country, more specifically to Germany, because there were very interesting job opportunities, but I still had the same unhappiness. This came from personal dissatisfaction. And I needed to make a personal and professional change. That's when I decided to start making the transition between architecture and painting.<br>
<br>
It was a two-year process in which I worked as an architect and painter until painting took on proportions that took over my life. That's how I see myself, a person who followed his passion.<br>
<br>
EB - How did the idea to conceive this book come about?<br>
<br>
TA - I have always been passionate about the fantastic, for tales and fables. And when I was in Germany, I was immersed in all that German folklore. I grew more and more enthusiastic about the Brothers Grimm stories and that's why I decided to compile ten of their stories in this book. I had as main objective to maintain its original nature. These are darker and more haunting stories, but I made a point of maintaining originality and, with my paintings, bringing them to life.<br>
<br>
The paintings may have that darker character, but this also has to do with my painting style that is part of pop surrealism, that is, the mixture of classical painting techniques from the height of the Baroque to the present day with contemporary concepts. And the physiognomy that you see in my characters is something that, today, we can see on the cover of a magazine... 🦋 <a href="http://tiagoazevedo.com/">www.tiagoazevedo.com</a> 🦋<!--/data/user/0/com.samsung.android.app.notes/files/clipdata/clipdata_200608_172520_220.sdoc--><br></div>tgoazevedohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03086032944965035335noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4852610955700725860.post-14078651177765571292020-06-07T13:49:00.001-07:002020-06-07T13:49:16.314-07:00Snow White painting framed by Tiago Azevedo <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">This Rapunzel painting is a re-interpretation of the
traditional fairytale story from the Brothers Grimm and joins other great
titles in the Fairytale series. It has the message of following your dream
reflecting a work of fantasy and romance. The reason why Rapunzel was locked in
the tower was that the witch doesn't want the world to see her. She
had her evil plans as she wanted Rapunzel's beauty to be hers.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">This portrayal of her in a pop surrealist manner captures
the contrast between her deep confinement in the tower and the newfound endless
freedom of the bird. The bird is painted in the same color of her dress as it
were a part of her reaching out for that freedom and love she so desperately
desires. </p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The sky defines the vignettes of the image as if it were a
dream of hers. Despite her imprisonment, she still has the sensual royal pose
that is inherent to her seductive personality. This proves that no matter what
our situation is we are not defined by it, showing that we decide who we are
and how we present ourselves to the World. Even the smallest light can fill a
darkened room and love can indeed conquer all.</p>tgoazevedohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03086032944965035335noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4852610955700725860.post-29072415540538393412020-06-03T15:46:00.003-07:002020-06-03T15:46:51.693-07:00Snow White and the Poisoned Apple Painting by Tiago Azevedo<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://www.tiagoazevedo.com/" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" target="_blank"><img alt="painting of snow white in a forest with a red apple on her hand by tiago azevedo a lowbrow pop surrealism artist" border="0" data-original-height="2000" data-original-width="1607" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYkHUKNwJHOtxGFpSEYkUSVPiV1Qg0EhwJkR0wNkOfJfvK3ESOLMx0js54A033Dg6cBX_9bJCjn2rMoT9LHVawhyNJJja3IMSmHPmfiNnd8_D7RCb2C68_jHNn1rLzoJvuN6QPdIFZphY/w514-h640/Snow+White+2000.jpg" title="Snow White and the Poisoned Apple Painting by Tiago Azevedo" width="514" /></a></div><p class="MsoNormal"><span class="collection-keyword"><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><span style="color: black; font-size: 16.0pt;"><br /></span></b></span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: center;"><span class="collection-keyword"><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><span style="color: black; font-size: 16.0pt;"><a href="https://www.tiagoazevedo.com/" target="_blank">Snow White and the Poisoned

<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="color: black; font-size: 12.5pt;">A darker mythology
of the mermaid as an enchantress. Mermaids traditionally were sirens who lured
sailors to their death through their captivating song. They were also tragic
figures as mermaids could not survive in the human world which they yearned for
and men could not exist in their watery realm, so any relationship was doomed. </span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="color: black; font-size: 12.5pt;">This pop
surrealist Mermaid painting no sailors are depicted so that despite being a
'siren' the mermaid is shown as an alluring rather lonely figure with fish
traits such as the ears and gills instead of a fishtail that may or may not
exist. The atmosphere evoked is one of gentle melancholy as the mermaid sits
alone in an isolated inlet, dreamily showing out her long hair with her lips
parted in song. Beside her are two red fishes that indicate she has control
over marine animals as she does with sailors where it is believed that she
turns their tears into precious pearls.<br />
<br />
her wistful-sad look and the review remarked that it tells of the human
longings never to be satisfied. The chill of the sea lies ever on her heart,
the endless murmur of the waters is a poor substitute for the sound of human
voices, never can this beautiful creature, troubled with emotion, experience on
the one hand unawakened repose, on the other the joys of womanhood.</span></p>tgoazevedohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03086032944965035335noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4852610955700725860.post-65605460950723632552020-06-03T15:42:00.001-07:002020-06-03T15:42:41.598-07:00The Desert of Queen Hatshepsut Painting by Tiago Azevedo<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://www.tiagoazevedo.com/" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" target="_blank"><img alt="Painting of egyptian queen hatshepsut in a piramyd desert with luxurious jewlery by tiago azevedo a lowbrow pop surrealism artist" border="0" data-original-height="2000" data-original-width="1597" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjEWHkC1csEBrzMG-0G9Vk6AgOybE9WjSY7hTgfgrBOIsNBTqWSkM9dm28I19voPk1ffGvRuB_HK04bvb3JeZRMGAWvPRuCfmUnI_a1I0fuNyC8BoyRSCuxLPD4IqzV_9QYD-LdCQSwgXI/w512-h640/Hatshepsut+2000.jpg" title="The Desert of Queen Hatshepsut Painting by Tiago Azevedo" width="512" /></a></div><p class="MsoNormal"><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><span style="font-size: 16.0pt;"><br /></span></b></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: center;"><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><span style="font-size: 16.0pt;"><a href="https://www.tiagoazevedo.com/" target="_blank">The <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:placetype w:st="on">Desert</st1:placetype>

<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Sleeping Beauty is a creation inspired in the Grimm
Fairytales and the Disney movie interpretation. It is the most lavishly
detailed of the series that I have painted to date including all my favorite
elements of the big wide eyes interpreted in a Lowbrow Pop Surrealist manner. </p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">This painting is filled with the enchantment of the original
story in a pop surrealist way. From the medieval garments and jewelry that
Briar Rose was gifted by the three good fairies to the magnificent castle where
Princess Aurora would awaken to love's first kiss. then in the distance, we
imagine the climactic fight between the good Prince Phillip and the evil
Maleficent in dragon form. The original story is called The Sun, the
Moon, and Talia, written, or at the least collected and composed, by the
Italian poet Giambattista Basile.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The entire story was interpreted in a narrative portrait for
all to enjoy. Of course central to the painting, and as a testament to the
strength of true love, we can root for the prince and his awakened beauty in
each other's arms as friends great and small gather in celebration of their
undying devotion. Whether you are a fan of Sleeping Beauty or simply an
unabashed romantic who believes love conquers all.</p>tgoazevedohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03086032944965035335noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4852610955700725860.post-29757158992343412482020-06-03T15:35:00.000-07:002020-06-03T15:35:26.300-07:00Cinderella and the Magic Shoe Painting by Tiago Azevedo<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://www.tiagoazevedo.com/" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" target="_blank"><img alt="painting of cinderella with a golden shoe on a red pillow beside her by tiago azevedo a lowbrow pop surrealism artist" border="0" data-original-height="1402" data-original-width="2000" height="448" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjTJR5ROEZmyebpNPd30PLs-jjcGg2k7BT1Z2EMMwhu5RXZnLs_YxVV6zb-D9IXCvSBrfm6x2MSjdutL68gFW9EBde3i8rTshCJLjavE11T2hxM8EcX0J9Zery337Z55872gUvQ2_JhgyM/w640-h448/Cinderella+2000.jpg" title="Cinderella and the Magic Shoe Painting by Tiago Azevedo" width="640" /></a></div><p class="MsoNormal"><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><span style="font-size: 16.0pt;"><br /></span></b></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: center;"><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><span style="font-size: 16.0pt;"><a href="https://www.tiagoazevedo.com/" target="_blank">Cinderella and the Magic Shoe Painting by Tiago

<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The Snow Queen is an original fairy tale written by Danish
author Hans Christian Andersen. The tale was first published in 1844 and the
story centers on the struggle between good and evil as experienced by Gerda and
her friend, Kai.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"> </p>
<p class="MsoNormal">In this pop surrealist painting, the idea is to portray her
as being the snow itself, as if there is no separation between her and the
matter she controls. Shee looks surprised to be captured for she is in a
private moment, Her naked body contrasts with the cold snow around her and the
light blue background. Icicles are growing right out of her head forming a
crown, this shows that she can create anything out of snow and that snow is the
only matter she needs. The simplicity of the scene is intended to highlight her
beauty above all.<br />
<br />

<p class="MsoNormal">Religious themes still causes the audience a lot of strong
and bright feelings and underlines the quivering and subtle attitude to the
issues of faith and spiritual salvation.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">According to the Bible, angels are creatures created by God
for spiritual ministry, they are endowed with tremendous knowledge about the
world and human psychology, have special abilities to penetrate space and time,
and perform certain functions in the service of the Lord. As follows from
Genesis, the Psalter, the Gospel, people are angels in a human, usually
masculine manner, but the Bible warns to make unequivocal judgments about their
nature, since all these testimonies are rare and most often are human
speculation.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">In this painting done in a pop surrealist style The Angel, naked
in a forest with a flower on her hands is taking the center stage. The face is
expressing kindness and serenity, indicating the <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:placetype w:st="on">Kingdom</st1:placetype> of <st1:placename w:st="on">Heaven</st1:placename></st1:place>

that the figure of the angel dissolves against the background of the forest,
and the beautiful wings, carefully drawn, belong to this heavenly creature. </p>tgoazevedohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03086032944965035335noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4852610955700725860.post-41791217643302287542020-06-03T15:23:00.000-07:002020-06-03T15:23:18.397-07:00Triumph of Princess Salome Painting by Tiago Azevedo<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://www.tiagoazevedo.com/" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" target="_blank"><img alt="painting of red head salome with the head of john the Baptist in her hands by tiago azevedo a lowbrow pop surrealism artist" border="0" data-original-height="2000" data-original-width="1416" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjItOzDCGoT_2R2wx4bB6tfBKjYwcuOrECHOcxTFk2VuYVTULfQiMRvhVvRtahexxg8INzEg0uVN_47SOc-k5KICzMj99vbbI9zv-50Ov0y5S-6fdm2LxRR2B232sSuC6DG4d8SBc0n3rs/w454-h640/Salom%25C3%25A9+2000.jpg" title="Triumph of Princess Salome Painting by Tiago Azevedo" width="454" /></a></div><p class="MsoNormal"><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><span style="font-size: 16.0pt;"><br /></span></b></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: center;"><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><span style="font-size: 16.0pt;"><a href="https://www.tiagoazevedo.com/" target="_blank">Triumph of Princess Salome Painting by Tiago Azevedo</a><o:p></o:p></span></b></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">Depicting Salome with the head of <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:city w:st="on">St. John</st1:city></st1:place> the Baptist, this painting marked
the beginning of a series of female power and women’s wiles. Salome, Judith,
Dalila, Lucrecia, and other figures or scenes, highlighted by the beauty of the
models and the black or dark background, exude eroticism, a characteristic
feature of the painter’s universe. </p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">In this painting, you can see her in a sensual pose with the
head of John the Baptist almost as a prop in a pop surrealist way. This shows
someone that has not a conscious understanding of the severity of what she has
done. Her red dress and regal collar contrast with the dark background and
especially with the greyish tone of the dead head of John the Baptist. The idea
here is to contrast her beauty and innocent appearance with the dark act
committed. </p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">According to the Jewish historian Josephus, Salome is
the daughter of Herodias and stepdaughter of Herod Antipas, ruler
appointed by Rome of Galilee, a region in <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:city w:st="on">Palestine</st1:city></st1:place>. In Biblical literature, Salome is
remembered as the immediate agent in the execution of John the Baptist.

father, Herod Philip, and a son of Herod I the Great and then to
Aristobulus son of Herod of Chalcis. </p>tgoazevedohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03086032944965035335noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4852610955700725860.post-72064781812991865082020-06-03T15:03:00.001-07:002020-06-03T15:03:23.397-07:00Queen Elizabeth I and the Divine Painting by Tiago Azevedo<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://www.tiagoazevedo.com/" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" target="_blank"><img alt="painting of Queen Elizabeth I with intense blue eyes a collar and pearls by tiago azevedo a lowbrow pop surrealism artist" border="0" data-original-height="2000" data-original-width="1497" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiwWml8NDNI-nko6Q5IU9_qvG4jYQXPppZqf4hOme8Jg3OGnQl3JqxlMDpHVMHRsg403l7gPjjBuhMjh_ikV3XrbpEacaqDRGvCU4B5__TXE0SU6WLRCsARCoADn5sLAvbdImEdXRZy8vY/w480-h640/Queen+Elizabeth+I+2000.jpg" title="Queen Elizabeth I and the Divine Painting by Tiago Azevedo" width="480" /></a></div><p class="MsoNormal"><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><span style="font-size: 16.0pt;"><br /></span></b></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: center;"><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><span style="font-size: 16.0pt;"><a href="https://www.tiagoazevedo.com/" target="_blank">Queen Elizabeth I and the Divine Painting by TiagoAzevedo</a><o:p></o:p></span></b></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">In this painting done in a pop surrealist style, Her
bejeweled red hair and smooth, pale complexion give no clue to her age, nor the
scars from smallpox she had suffered at 29. Her upright posture, open arms, and
clear gaze all speak of vitality and strength, as does the crown to her right. </p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><st1:city w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Elizabeth</st1:place></st1:city>'s
lavish dress is, however, replete with meaning. Black and white, in this
instance more of a warm grey, were her preferred colors for several reasons.
White symbolized purity and virtue, and was expensive to maintain; black spoke
of humility, but also authority and power, and required rare dyes. But those
colors were also an allusion to Cynthia, the goddess of the moon, black for
night, white for the pearl-like moon, the subject of <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:city w:st="on">Raleigh</st1:city></st1:place>'s lengthy poem The Oceans Love to

<p class="MsoNormal">Then there are the abundant pearls, visual metaphors for the

pearls are not the only astronomical reference, there are numerous suns to
signify power and enlightenment, embroidered in gold. </p>tgoazevedohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03086032944965035335noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4852610955700725860.post-6026189920343045272020-06-03T14:59:00.002-07:002020-06-03T14:59:47.893-07:00Rise of the Little Fairy Painting by Tiago Azevedo<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://www.tiagoazevedo.com/" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" target="_blank"><img alt="painting of a baby fairy flying with pink wings by tiago azevedo a lowbrow pop surrealism artist" border="0" data-original-height="2000" data-original-width="1547" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhu766RaZzcfO023nE9KtAkosU92eKjmRta87jwSO_r5qCaK2NbeHNmVWGqKkV9Ms4enPKmA3FmBOsgx3Fbb8Of2YUZrhK1Tvu1exJ9px-8pOjBW8knUxFgl7fnyqmLie1BuMJqlRsI-wg/w496-h640/Little+Fairy+2000.jpg" title="Rise of the Little Fairy Painting by Tiago Azevedo" width="496" /></a></div><p class="MsoNormal"><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><span style="font-size: 16.0pt;"><br /></span></b></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: center;"><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><span style="font-size: 16.0pt;"><a href="https://www.tiagoazevedo.com/" target="_blank">Rise of the Little Fairy Painting by Tiago Azevedo</a><o:p></o:p></span></b></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Set at twilight in a dark wood this scene represents the
first flight of an infant fairy painted in a pop surrealist style. All is
rendered with breathtaking, meticulous attention to detail, the woodland scene
with imaginary fairies, making a link with ancient Celtic beliefs, folklore,
and chivalry in a typically mid-Victorian way. </p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Belief in fairies, folklore, and the world of the

also makes an allusion to the fairy rade or parade of fairies with the

<p class="MsoNormal">Various folk theories about the origins of
fairies include casting them as either demoted angels or demons in a

<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The love of everything that is joyous, brilliant, and
consoling in life explains why Two Sisters is such a popular painting.
Here is depicted the radiance of two lovely young children on a warm and
beautiful day. The older girl, with a more tamed hairdo alluding to her
personality, is posed in the right of the evocative landscape where a butterfly
passes by don in a pop surreal way. </p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">She gazes absently beyond her younger companion, who seems,
in a charming visual conceit, to have a free spirit and vivid imagination
chasing after the butterfly. Technically, like a stage set, this seems a realm
of pure vision and fantasy, holding the bright, pure pigments of the painting.
Although the girls were not actually sisters, for this is loosely inspired in
the fairy tale of mother hole, their bond and proximity are clear in the
composition. </p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Aristotle gave the butterfly the name psyche, the
Greek word for soul. Many cultures relate butterflies to the human
soul. In ancient Greek the word for butterfly is psyche which means
soul, and was also the name of Eros' human lover.</p>tgoazevedohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03086032944965035335noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4852610955700725860.post-63057196100923618552020-06-03T14:55:00.003-07:002020-06-03T14:55:59.231-07:00The Trial of Marie Antoinette Painting by Tiago Azevedo<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://www.tiagoazevedo.com/" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" target="_blank"><img alt="painting marie antoinette in a red dress and yellow backgound by tiago azevedo a lowbrow pop surrealism artist" border="0" data-original-height="2000" data-original-width="1503" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgKK_pktcrR7Z4jY5BsOMYC-ymla_OP1BEKAHguv_eG7HtazyO3aIgd_qNRwm4VHxT8DmLvEaE9sqiB2t1fGik7BRwYa3Sb54GcJ_j1vfDy4n72Bdg9WYxACPMmnELS5YCK9bS1U2dNQ_4/w480-h640/Marie+Antoinette+2000.jpg" title="The Trial of Marie Antoinette Painting by Tiago Azevedo" width="480" /></a></div><p class="MsoNormal"><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><span style="font-size: 16.0pt;"><br /></span></b></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: center;"><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><span style="font-size: 16.0pt;"><a href="https://www.tiagoazevedo.com/" target="_blank">The Trial of Marie Antoinette Painting by TiagoAzevedo</a><o:p></o:p></span></b></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">A poster child for penance is Mary Magdalene’s most
successful look, however, was that of the paradigm of penitence. Any starlet
can rock gowns and accessories, but it takes a very special lady to make
repentance look good. Pope Saint Gregory the Great saw her great potential to
show the beautiful side of penitence when in 591 he conflated her with the
adulterous woman and the woman saved from seven demons. </p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Who else could show the world that saying you’re sorry is
empowering and beautifying? We all love the Penitent Magdalene. Here depicted
as a siren whose evident beauty is now for God alone, a woman whose beautiful
bone structure remains visible despite her emaciated form painted in a pop
surrealist style, and whose powerful blue gaze emanates a glowing life and
energy. Here a contemplative Magdalene learning about the Lord who has
cast all her worldly possessions that only brought her emptiness in her life.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">According to Ross King, an expert on Italian art, Mary
Magdalene's appearance at the last supper would not have been
controversial and Leonardo would have had no motive to disguise her as one of
the other disciples, since she was widely venerated in her role as the Apostle
